Privacy policy
Effective October 27, 2026
GridQuest (“we”) shows runners which streets and paths in their town they’ve covered, and plans runs on the ones they haven’t. GridQuest is run by Vitae Coaching, LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to remove it.
The short version
- We use your runs only to show you your own map and progress. Other runners never see your runs, tracks or map.
- We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use your data to train or run AI.
- Disconnect Strava or delete your account at any time from the app, and your data is deleted.
What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | You, when you sign in | To send sign-in links and identify your account |
| Your settings: display name, home city, home neighborhood, miles or kilometers | You | To show the right map and units |
| Your Strava athlete ID, name and profile photo, and the access tokens Strava issues | Strava, when you connect it | To show which Strava account is connected and to import your runs |
| Your runs, walks and hikes: name, sport, start time, distance, moving time and GPS track | Strava, Garmin (when available) or files you upload | To work out which streets and paths you’ve covered |
| Your progress: which street and path sections you’ve covered | Worked out from your runs | Your map, percentages and last run summary |
| Routes you save from the planner | You | So you can download and reuse them |
We only import activities done on foot (runs, trail runs, walks and hikes) that have a GPS track. We don’t collect heart rate, health data, contacts or your phone’s location.
Who can see it
Only you. Your runs, tracks, map and progress are shown only to you when you’re signed in. We don’t share them with other users, publish them, or combine them across runners. Street maps come from OpenStreetMap and are the same for everyone.
Services that handle your data
We use a few companies to run GridQuest. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase stores your account, runs and progress, and sends sign-in emails.
- Vercel hosts the website and the route planner.
- CARTO serves the background map images. Your browser requests them directly, so CARTO sees your IP address, as any website you load would.
- Strava and Garmin, when you connect them, send us your activities. Their own privacy policies apply to the data they hold: Strava privacy policy, Garmin Connect privacy policy.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to complete the Strava connection safely. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
- We keep your data while your account is open, because your street progress builds up over your whole running history.
- Disconnect Strava on the Runs page, or revoke GridQuest’s access in your Strava settings: we stop importing and delete every run we imported from Strava, and the progress that came from it. Runs you uploaded as files stay.
- Delete your account in Settings: we delete your account, runs, progress, saved routes and any connection to Strava or Garmin.
- Deletions take effect right away in the app. Copies in our providers’ backups expire on their normal schedule.
- We may change how long we keep data imported from a connected service to follow that service’s rules, and will update this policy if we do.
Your choices and rights
You can see your runs and progress in the app at any time, change your settings, disconnect services and delete your account yourself. To ask for a copy of your data or anything else about your privacy, email support@gridquest.fit. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the Colorado Privacy Act or the GDPR; we’ll honor those requests.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each runner’s data is separated at the database level so one runner can’t read another’s. Strava access tokens are kept on the server and never sent to your browser.
Children
GridQuest isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app before significant changes take effect.
